FloPay sends secure payment links via SMS text message as a convenience for existing customers of businesses that use the FloPay platform. Text messaging is an optional service—customers are never required to consent to text messages in order to use FloPay's payment services.
FloPay collects opt-in consent through two methods, depending on how the customer interacts with the business:
When a customer calls to place or pay for an order, the FloPay agent follows a required verbal consent script before sending any text message. The agent must read the script below word for word and record the customer's response:
"Instead of taking your payment information over the phone, I can send you a secure payment link via text message to the mobile number you provided.
By agreeing, you consent to receive one-time transactional text messages from FloPay containing a secure payment link for this transaction.
Message frequency varies based on your transactions—typically one message per payment request. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP.
This is completely optional—you are not required to agree in order to make a payment. You may also pay by phone or other available methods.
Do you agree to receive a text message with your secure payment link?"
If the customer says YES: The agent records the consent in the FloPay
dashboard using the form below.
If the customer says NO: The agent proceeds with an alternative payment
method. No text message is sent.
When a customer places an order online through a FloPay-integrated checkout, they are presented with a standalone, unchecked checkbox to opt in to receiving a payment link via text message. The checkbox includes the following consent language:
This checkbox is unchecked by default. The customer must affirmatively check it to opt in. If not checked, the customer can still complete their purchase using other available payment methods.
Customers can revoke their SMS consent at any time through any of the following methods:
Once consent is revoked, FloPay will immediately cease sending text messages until the customer opts in again.
Below is a screenshot of the FloPay dashboard showing the customer contact record with the SMS opt-in checkbox. This is where agents record and manage consent status:
