The Direct Sales Payment Problem
A direct sales company runs two payment streams at once: a flood of small first orders and starter kits from new customers and distributors, and a long tail of monthly autoship that is the real business. Both are card-not-present, both are recurring or look recurring to an issuer, and both attract disputes from people who forgot what they signed up for. Acquirers classify the category as high risk, which brings reserves, tight chargeback thresholds, and the standing threat that one bad month ends the merchant account and strands every stored card.
FloPay does not underwrite merchant accounts and does not change how the networks classify the industry. It runs on top of the gateway and merchant account you have, or that one of our ISO partners places for you, and it handles the part the acquirer actually scores: a signed, consented enrollment; autoship charged as correctly flagged recurring transactions with retries that recover soft declines; alerts refunded inside the window; and a vault and routing layer you own, so a second gateway is a configuration change rather than a re-enrollment.
From First Order to Month Twelve
Enrollment on a hosted checkout
The kit or first order is paid on a hosted checkout embedded as an iframe in your enrollment site or sent as a link, with wallets, ACH and 3-D Secure. Terms and the autoship consent are presented and e-signed on the same page.
Card vaulted for autoship
The card is tokenized in the provider-agnostic vault with stored-credential consent, so the monthly charge carries the recurring flags and original transaction ID issuers approve at higher rates.
Autoship as a subscription
Each customer's autoship is a subscription with its own interval, next-run date and optional end date, in a list that shows every next charge and a dashboard of active, suspended and failed subscriptions.
Soft declines retried, hard declines paused
Insufficient funds retries on day 1, 3 and 5. An expired or closed card suspends the autoship and surfaces it for a text with a link to update the card. See decline recovery.
Alerts refunded before they count
Chargeback alerts are matched to the order by amount, last four and date, refunded through the gateway and closed, with a daily digest to finance.
Events to your back office
Payment, refund and subscription events reach your MLM platform through signed webhooks, so commissions, genealogy and inventory run where they already run.

Why It Pays
Autoship That Approves
Correctly flagged recurring charges approve more often than mis-flagged ones, and scheduled retries recover the soft declines that would otherwise churn a customer in month three.
A Ratio Under Control
An alert refunded in the window is not a chargeback. For a category watched this closely, that is the difference between a normal month and a reserve letter.
Gateways on Your Terms
With the vault and routing in FloPay, you can split volume across two merchant accounts, move it when terms change, and never ask a customer for a card twice.
See autoship billing that holds up
We will run an enrollment on the hosted checkout, a month of autoship with a retry, and an alert-to-refund on a live demo.
Talk to SalesFrequently Asked Questions
-
Will FloPay get my MLM company approved for a merchant account?
No. FloPay is not an acquirer and does not underwrite. It runs on top of the merchant account and gateway you already have, or that one of our ISO partners places for you. Its job is to make that account perform: consented enrollment, correctly flagged autoship, alerts refunded before they count, and a card vault that moves with you if you change processors.
-
Does FloPay calculate or pay distributor commissions?
No. Commissions, payouts, genealogy and ranks stay in your MLM software. FloPay collects customer and distributor payments and sends every payment, refund and subscription event to your platform through signed webhooks and the REST API.
-
How are failed autoship charges handled?
Each decline is classified per gateway. Soft declines such as insufficient funds retry on day 1, 3 and 5. Hard declines such as an expired or closed card suspend the subscription and notify your team, and the customer can be texted a link to update the card. Nothing is charged for hopeless retries.
-
Can a customer cancel autoship easily?
Yes, and they should be able to: a cancellation that takes effect the same day, with a confirmation message, is the single best defense against "cancelled recurring" disputes. Subscriptions can be ended or given an end date from the dashboard or through the API.
